8 random facts about myself
Tagged by Connie/Sassy Lawyer and Shai Coggins, here are 8 random facts about me:
- I am a whiz at interviews. I get nervous before a meeting – sweaty palms, fast heartbeat and irrational fears – but as soon as the Q&A starts, I am immediately at ease and can answer questions even from a panel of very serious interviewers. I have found that talking helps (me) alleviate stress.
- I've spent most of my life doing all sorts of physical activities – from playing tennis, mountaineering and mountain biking to scuba diving and snowboarding – and you can see signs of all those involvement when you look at my legs. I am proud of my non-Barbie legs and I am not ashamed to wear (no hiding behind stockings) shorts and mini skirts. They are muscular and scarred. Many would probably hide their legs if they have mine. But I like mine just as they are, thankyouverymuch.
- I have – as my brother calls it – ET (phone home) toes. They have thin bases and are bony. Yes, they are really ugly. But I still wear open-toed shoes, sandals and flipflops.
- I used to be so vain and (as my older brother used to describe me when we were teenagers) maporma when I was younger. But I got so much negative reaction – from being constantly judged ditzy to being subjected to mean gossips by catty girls – so I stopped caring, started sporting short hair and involved myself in outdoor activities. I consider my youngest sister's description of me – walang kaarte arte sa katawan – as one of the best compliments I have ever received.
- I have been teaching both my sons to say "Mama is sexy". If I was really sexy, people would think of me as vain and big-headed. Seeing that I am NOT, it's like a big joke and I find it really funny. Unfortunately for my sons, though, they will grow up with a distorted image of what is really sexy. Haha.
- I can really forgive and forget. But I am not a dog. It's that "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" way of thinking. To date, my mother-in-law tops the list of having gone way way past the forgiving and forgetting stage.
- I stopped believing in the Church and I have not gone to mass for a very long time but I still pray to God every single night. I still make the sign of the cross (which makes many Germans smile) every time I see a Church – whether Catholic or not.
- I don't care about the latest fashion but I am very brand conscious.
